Bike Fittings at Reform Physical Therapy
Customized, Performance-Driven, and Clinically Backed

At Reform Physical Therapy, we offer professional bike fittings to help you ride stronger, longer, and without pain. Whether you’re training for a race or riding for fun, a properly fitted bike can dramatically reduce discomfort, improve efficiency, and help prevent overuse injuries.
What Is a F.I.S.T. Bike Fitting?
We use the F.I.S.T. (Fit Institute Slowtwitch) method, a respected bike fitting system used by elite cyclists and triathletes around the world. This approach fits athletes to their bikes—not the other way around—and applies to road, off-road, and even stationary setups.
Because every rider has different needs, the F.I.S.T. protocol tailors your positioning to your body mechanics. As a result, your ride becomes smoother, more powerful, and far more comfortable.
The fitting includes adjustments to:
- Saddle: height, tilt, and forward/back position
- Pedals: type, cleat alignment, and foot positioning
- Handlebars: width, height, and shape
- Stem and grips: length, reach, and ergonomic comfort
In addition, we evaluate how these changes interact with your strength, flexibility, and riding goals.
Where Can I Get a Bike Fit?
Currently, we offer bike fittings exclusively at our Yarmouth clinic. Our licensed physical therapists conduct a full movement assessment, followed by on-bike analysis and precision adjustments.
If you’re unsure whether a fitting is right for you, reach out—we’ll be happy to discuss how this service could improve your performance or reduce discomfort.
How Much Does It Cost?
Costs can vary depending on your needs, bike type, and complexity of the fit. Therefore, we recommend giving our Yarmouth clinic a call for a personalized estimate.
Athlete Spotlight: Joan Benoit Samuelson
Yarmouth clinic manager Tim Davoren, PT, ATC had the honor of fitting Joan Benoit Samuelson to both her road and stationary bikes. Joan, a Maine native and Olympic Gold Medalist, trusted Reform PT with her setup—proof that even elite athletes benefit from precise adjustments.
While her goals may differ from yours, her fitting process reflects the same commitment to comfort, efficiency, and performance that every rider deserves.
Who Should Consider a Bike Fitting?
You don’t have to be a pro to benefit from a bike fit. For example, we work with:
- Recreational cyclists who ride for fun
- Triathletes and endurance athletes
- Post-injury cyclists easing back into training
- Commuters logging regular miles
- Riders adjusting to a new bike or experiencing chronic discomfort
Even small changes can lead to big gains, especially in how you feel during and after your ride.
