Treatment:
Wear what makes you comfortable! You should be able to move comfortably and your therapist should be able to access the area of your body being treated. Shorts and tank tops are recommended for those undergoing dry needling or cupping therapy.
Your first appointment will take about 60-minutes, follow ups range from 30 to 60-minutes, depending on the complexity of treatments and other factors.

For the majority of patients, pain relief is the main objective. Relief can be achieved through varying techniques like manual therapy/massage, joint mobilization, and stretching. Increased strength, range of motion, and endurance can also be a source of pain relief.
In some cases, especially where regaining or improving range of motion is key – think shoulder surgeries and total knee replacements- therapy may cause temporary discomfort. Our therapists are trained in communicating this aspect of therapy to avoid any surprises, but also applying only the necessary techniques, without overcompensating.
This depends entirely on you and your body. The complexity of your issue/injury/condition will give your therapist an estimate of your length of therapy, but the specifics of your body mechanics and genetics will also impact recovery. Your overall compliance with therapy and your treatment plan also plays a part.
You will work one-on-one with the same therapist for every appointment, with the rare exception of a planned therapist vacation or unplanned therapist absence, in which case we would attempt to move your appointment to an alternate therapist’s schedule in order to keep you on track.
Frankly, that rarely, if ever, happens at our clinics, but if it does- no hard feelings. Our patient care coordinators are skilled at pairing patients with the appropriate therapist, but in the off chance they get it wrong, we can simply switch you to another therapist and move on with business as usual. No hard feelings, no awkward interactions, just professional, altruistic therapists with the desire to see patients pain-free.
Yes! In Maine, you have the right to choose. Your referral is still valid at Reform.
Insurance:
Rates vary by insurance provider. We have contracted rates with each individual insurance company, but total costs will vary based on treatment codes billed, time spent with the therapist, and techniques utilized.
As a courtesy, we verify eligibility and benefits prior to the initial evaluation, though we do encourage patients to independently verify coverage in the event we were provided with incorrect or incomplete information.
We offer cash-based services and fee schedules to those without coverage or insurance. Give one of our clinics a call and our Patient Care Coordinators will be happy to give you a full breakdown!
